The Land Where Salt and Sweetness Meet
In Cu Lao Dung — an island embraced by the gentle waves of the Mekong — the air carries a distinct scent of brine and earth. Here, vast nipa palm forests stretch endlessly, their leaves whispering in the wind like stories passed down through generations. This is not just a landscape — it’s a living memory of a community that has learned to thrive where the river meets the sea.
For decades, the women of Cu Lao Dung have been the quiet heartbeat of these mangrove lands — planting, harvesting, and nurturing with silent strength. Yet, as climate change erodes coastlines and livelihoods grow uncertain, their resilience has been tested. The rhythm of the tides, once a song of abundance, now carries both hope and challenge.
But from that very challenge came transformation.
From Forest to Flavor — A Journey of Empowerment
With the support of the Cu Lao Dung Women Entrepreneurs Club and the GS4INFRA project, local women began reimagining what their land could offer. From the humble nipa palm fruit (dừa nước) — once a simple gift of nature — they have crafted something extraordinary: soft-dried nipa palm fruit, a delicacy that captures the pure sweetness of the mangrove.
Each piece of this soft-dried coconut candy is made from 100% natural nipa palm fruit, harvested by hand from sustainable mangrove forests. The fruits are carefully cleaned, sliced, and slow-dried using gentle heat — preserving their soft, chewy texture and delicate caramel-like flavor.
Behind every batch is the story of women who once stood on the margins of opportunity — now standing proudly at the center of change. Through training, cooperation, and shared vision, they have turned natural abundance into lasting livelihood.
