On February 6, 2026, Women4Mangrove project organized a training session titled “OCOP Products – Improving Livelihoods from Native Resources,” providing transformative perspectives for the women of Cu Lao Dung.
OCOP as a Lever for Sustainable Development: Beyond a certification, OCOP is a strategy to transform everyday specialties into high-value commercial assets. The session highlighted how OCOP:
- Enhances livelihoods and creates stable local employment.
- Paves the way for new rural service industries.
- Preserves and promotes indigenous intelligence through unique cultural storytelling.
Awakening Cu Lao Dung’s Potential: With its unique ecosystem, Cu Lao Dung holds immense potential for OCOP development, particularly from mangroves (Bần) and water coconuts. The creativity sparked during the session laid the groundwork for optimizing these native values, aiming to position local products firmly on the national OCOP map.
Women4Mangrove want to extend our sincere gratitude to trainer Tran Hoang Tuyen – Deputy Director of the Business Studies and Assistance Center (BSA) – for providing valuable knowledge, practical insights on OCOP, and for inspiring participants to consider the OCOP advantages of their locality in the market. Additionally, the project was honored to have the presence of women and officials from Hoa Luu and Dong Hiep communes (Can Tho City) who introduced and shared successful OCOP products from their two communes. Furthermore, the training program concluded with a twinning ceremony between the Cu Lao Dung community and the Con Son Agricultural Cooperative, opening up potential opportunities for cooperation and exchange to develop OCOP products and community-based tourism.
